I am looking for information on the HOBBS family from Villa Ridge, Pulaski County, Illinois. Green Hobbs married Hulda Barfield 03/04/1869 in Pulaski County Illinois. I am especially interested in learning more about Hulda’s parents and siblings. I believe Green’s parents were Russell HOBBS born about 1820 in Kentucky and Mary born about 1824 in Kentucky.

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. They were listed in the 1880 Villa Ridge, Pulaski County, Illinois Census as follows:

I would like to know more about the parents of Thomas BARFIELD. Thomas BARFIELD was born about 1846 in Tennessee. His death certificate lists a place called Bumpus Mills. His father Alfred BARFIELD was from North Carolina and mother (unknown) from Tennessee. According to a marriage license of Thomas his father was Alfred BARFIELD I have found the following Alfred in Stewart County, Tennessee and need further information to substantiate if he is the parent of my Thomas.

ALFRED¹ BARFIELD was born 1811 in North Carolina. He married NARCISSA. She was born 1826 in Tennessee.

Children of ALFRED BARFIELD and NARCISSA are:

RILEY C. BARFIELD, born 1853.

SANDERS C. BARFIELD, born 1856.

WILLIAM A. BARFIELD, born 1866.

RACHEL BORN BARFIELD, born 1869.

Information about Thomas BARFIELD

THOMAS² BARFIELD (ALFRED¹) was born December 1839 in Tennessee, and died August 22, 1929 in Grand Chain, Illinois. He married (1) ISABELLE in 1865. She was born November 1842 in Tennessee. I am also interested in finding out Isabelle's maiden name and her family members. Tom and Isabelle lived in Barlow, Kentucky (Ballard County) in the 1880 census.

Children of THOMAS BARFIELD and ISABELLA are:

i. JASPER³ BARFIELD, born 1862, Kentucky. Further information is sought for him and any descendents.

ii. SALLIE BARFIELD, born 1868, Kentucky. Further information is sought for her and any descendents.

iii. ROMULUS BARFIELD, born April 13, 1870, in Kentucky; died April 17, 1943, Sandusky, Erie Co., Ohio; married (1) CHARLOTTE PORTER, December 14, 1892, Pulaski County, Illinois; born 1875, Illinois. Then marriedied (2) MINNIE FOREMAN- COLEMAN; born April 10, 1880, Grand Chain, Illinois; died May 23, 1948, Port Clinton, Ohio.

David BARFIELD was born about 1862. He was the brother of Thomas BARFIELD and also lived with the family in Barlow, Kentucky.

Thomas BARFIELD later resided in Grand Chain, Pulaski County, Illinois with his wife Isabelle in the 1900 and 1910 censuses. I would like more information on this family. Thomas second marriage was to Nancy FOREE on March 02, 1922 in Grand Chain, Illinois, daughter of Simon FOREE and Millie TANDY. She was born February 24, 1876 in Illinois, and died March 16, 1963.

Looking for information on Romulus BARFIELD, his ancestors and descendents. Romulus was born 1870 in Kentucky. His father was Thomas BARFIELD born about 1846 in Tennessee. His mother was ) Isabelle BARFIELD November 1842 in Tennessee. Romulus BARFIELD and a number of other family members moved to the Port Clinton, Ohio area in Ottowa County. I would like more information on this family.

Georgia Ann Varner

I came across a site with your name and the name BAREFIELD. I have a gggrandfather who married a woman that had 4 daughters with the name BEREFELLE, and wondered if this was a misprint or something as I have been unable to locate any other persons with that surname. Could there be any connection? The girls names are Mary b. 1836, Sarah b. 1838, Elizabeth b. 1840, and Rachel b. 1842. Their mother's name was Nancy J. Nancy J later remarried to a George BAYLES. If you can help with these people I would like to hear from you. Thanks.

I am interesting in corresponding with anyone who has information with the following family. Manuel BARFIELD born approximately 1810 in Virginia, his wife Caroline born approximately 1816 in North Carolina. They are located in Pulaski County Illinois in the 1870 and 1880 census. Their granddaughter Ann MARCHBANK, born 1866 in Illinois, is living with them in both censuses.
