JAMES WITT MCCLELLAND

James Witt McClelland was born March 14, 1896 to Witt and Lena McClelland in Grand Chain, Illinois, the third oldest of eight children of this union.

At an early age he professed a hop in Christ and was baptized and became a member of Jones Chapel of Grand Chain, Illinois.

In 1916 he was united in Holy Matrimony with Bessie Crossland. Three daughters were born to this union. Lula preceded him in death.

After the death of his wife, Bessie, he was joined in marriage with Effie Harper, who also preceded him in death, following fifty years of marriage.

July 5, 1975, 3:30 a.m. at Barnes Hospital he departed this life.

Leaving to mourn his passing are two daughters, two brothers, two sisters, nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
