KARNAK, ILLINOIS

 

Located in the orginal Cairo Division of the Wabash Railroad. The area was called Oaktown in 1871. Oaktown Saw Mills owner A.C. Bartleson established a General Store and ran the Post Office.

Main Brothers Box and Lumber had a village platted in 1905. This plat included Oaktown. They named it Karnak.
