Elder Clarence Woolfolk was born on September 1, 1899 in the rural Southern Illinois town of Grand Chain, Illinois. His parents were the late Coleman and Nannie nee McClelland Woolfolk, Sr. He was the third oldest of eleven children. Clarence was raised in the Grand Chain community and attended Forestview School.
In March of 1922 he married Sarah Gaynor of Mississippi.
Seeking the best life he could for his family, Clarence relocated the family
north to Madison, Illinois. The two of them enjoyed 34 years of marriage
multiplying their own fruit 12 times raising them in the Madison area.
Elder Clarence Woolfolk, Sr. succeeded Elder James Perkins Clemons as pastor of
the Newport Church of God In Christ. He served as Pastor from February, 1969
until July 17, 1969 at his death. He also served faithfully as Assistant Pastor
for 30 years.
